THE JOYFUL MYSTERIES

The Annunciation

O Immaculate Virgin, given to us for a mother by your divine Son at the foot of the holy cross, we salute you with the Archangel Gabriel and all the heavenly host, and urgently beseech your prayers! You, the second Eve, accepted the Word of God in faith, and conceived and brought forth Him who would overthrow Satan and establish the Kingdom of God on earth. Yet the kingdom of Satan, though weakened, is not annihilated yet, and it is being engorged by the selfishness of women who, unlike you, refuse to give their fiat to the divine providence which has made them mothers, and are going so far as to have their children cruelly ripped from their wombs. As your prayers are beyond compare more efficacious than our own, we beg you to take our intentions, namely the conversion of abortive and post-abortive women, the conversion of those who pressure women to abort, the safety of those abiding in the womb, and the closing of this facility, into your arms, and to present them yourself before your divine Son, Who we know will grant you whatever you ask of Him, even to half His Kingdom.

The Visitation

Lord Jesus Christ, You Who the universe could not contain, in humbling Yourself to assume the form of a servant, You ascended the most glorious throne in all creation. Together with St. Elizabeth let us rejoice as the Mother of Our Lord, carrying You, joins us in prayer. Together with St. John the Baptist let us leap for joy as You sanctify our souls. With one mind let us magnify You, the living God made flesh that You might become our faithful High Priest and grant great mercy to the world. We kneel before You in great distress, and earnestly entreat You, that you suffer not the work of your hands to be frustrated, and the bones which you knit together to be ripped apart. Rather, may You grant these babies the same extraordinary grace which You gave Your servant St. John long ago, that they may feel Your divine presence, receive from Your mercy an abundance of grace and righteousness, and leap at the sound of Your mother's voice. Perceiving this, may their parents feel revulsion at the abomination which they were about to commit, and repent.

The Nativity of Our Lord

Glorious and almighty God, we rejoice at the birth of the divine Word: God made flesh for our salvation, God become our brother, priest, and friend. Yet we mourn that this joyous event was occasion for the manifestation of the depths of human depravity, as Herod ordered the indiscriminate slaughter of innocent babies in order to preserve himself in wealth, power, and carnal sins. Likewise at present: we adore You for Your sublime gift of life, yet we mourn that as regards human depravity, nothing has changed. Please, turn the hearts of those who slaughter the innocent for convenience, who preserve their promiscuity with blood. We beg you, lead them by the star of Your divine grace and providence to penance, to faith, and to adoration of the Incarnate infant King.

The Presentation in the Temple

Eternal, almighty, and all glorious Father, in faith your servants Mary and Joseph presented their newborn Son in your temple, with sacrifice and thanksgiving, according to the Law of Moses. Grant to all parents today the same faith, that they may not reckon their children a curse, to be lain on this altar of Satan and torn apart, in this fire of Moloch and consumed, but that they may see in new life a precious divine gift, and may in exultation take their children straightaway to Holy Mother Church, to be regenerated by Your Spirit in Holy Baptism, according to the Law of Christ. As in this mystery upon which we now meditate, may the elderly rejoice, and may the child never be separated from your love.

The Finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple

Lord Jesus Christ, compassionate High Priest, may we never lose faith that You are always about the things that are Your Father's, and that in your gracious providence You never forsake us who hope in You. You put your parents through unspeakable pain for three days as you taught in Your Father's temple. Yet this was for the good. You let your disciples feel unfathomable depths of sorrow for three days as you lay in the tomb. Yet in that time You conquered and despoiled the abyss and released the souls of the just into heaven. Today, you allow us terrible anguish, for we watch helplessly as babies are murdered before our eyes. Yet may we never lose hope that You are always with us, and that though You may seem to hide Yourself for a moment, it is for the good, and soon we will be united with You once again and will rejoice in the splendor of Your divinity.
